Lake Minear Extended Fishing Rules

bass Fishing is allowed from sun up to sun down year round.  You must be a member to be eligible for extended fishing.  After you are signed up you will receive a sticker and a key to the east fishing gate. Please make sure boat stickers are visible on the left side of your boat. You must show proof of liability insurance for all boats to receive a sticker.  Any boats brought in without a sticker will result in loss of membership. (Members fishing from shore will not receive a sticker.) The new key becomes effective Saturday, May 23, 2014. Note that a maximum of eight boats are allowed on the lake at any one time. Boat motors must be 10 hp or less and may not create a wake. If you have a larger motor on your boat, leave it up and use your trolling motor.  Remember to stay 150 ft. away from the west shore. Signs are posted so there should be no confusion. Boats may not be stored at the lake.
Please make sure that you lock the gate behind you after you enter or leave the lake.
Report any lost or stolen keys on the hot line 847-680-8897.  A $5.00 replacement key charge will apply and under no circumstances are keys to be duplicated. Letting a non-member use your key will result in lose of your privileges. Your cooperation will make this program enjoyable for all members. If you would like to bring in a guest during extended fishing hours you must purchase a guest pass in advance. A guest pass is required for insurance reasons. Guest will not be allowed to bring in any type of boat or floating device. Members are responsible for their guests at all times while they are at the lake.Please remember that extended fishing hours are for fishing only. The beach area is closed so no one should be swimming, picnicking, or playing games during extended fishing hours. Alcohol is never permitted. ATV’S and snowmobiles may not be used at any time. Children under the age of 16 must be with an adult during extended fishing hours. Kayaks and canoes may be used for fishing purposes only. We do not allow float tubes or rubber rafts.  Spear fishing is prohibited.

Zebra Mussels Found at Lake Minaer

Zebra mussels have been found in Lake Minear. You must use the proper precautions while fishing and boating. If you do not know what they are please go and visit a Zebra Mussel Web site for more information or call the our hotline and we will mail the information to you.

Fish Limits at Lake Minear

Lake Minear has set the following slot size limits:

  • Large & small mouth bass                              14-17 inch limit 1
  • Catfish                                                                    14- inch limit 2
  • Walleye                                                                  15- inch limit 2
  • All others                                                              state regulations
